Tap List Staples
The Royal We - House Lager - 4.7% abv
—
The Royal We is our classic, no-nonsense lager. A blend of Pilsner and Vienna malts creates a flavorful, yet refreshingly crisp light beer. We think every great taproom should have a house lager—familiar and accessible, appealing to craft beer nerds and casual drinkers alike.
This is one of a few P&B beers that gets its name from one of our favorite movies, The Big Lebowski. (Do you know the others?)
The Dude: “We dropped off the damn money.”
The Big Lebowski: “WE?
The Dude: “I! The Royal ‘We’!”
Butcher Holler - Grisette - 4.2% abv
—
“What’s a grisette?” We get this question all the time! Allow us to explain…
Grisettes originate from the mining regions along the border of France and Belgium, and were historically brewed to refresh the miners there. With its low alcohol content and crisp finish, it’s the perfect beer when there’s still work to do (or when you’re avoiding work on a beautiful sunny day)! Ours is brewed with a Belgian yeast, which adds a light spice to its dry and earthy mouthfeel. We love the mildness and approachability of the grisette, and we hope you do too!
We combined our respect for this style’s history with our love of country icon Loretta Lynn to come up with our grisette’s name. A national treasure, “borned a coal miner’s daughter / In a cabin, on a hill in Butcher Holler.”
Our Town - NEIPA - 6.8% abv
—
Hopped with Citra & El Dorado, Our Town is your quintessential hazy, juicy, New England IPA. Since our opening in 2018, it has been our flagship NEIPA: and a definite fan favorite amongst our friends and guests!
Because this beer is so special to us, it is only available for on-site consumption in our cozy taproom in Peterborough, NH. But trust us…it’s worth the trip! And if you just can’t seem to get enough, we do a few limited can releases of Our Town throughout the year to celebrate special occasions. Stay tuned in to our social media and our biweekly newsletter so you never miss a release!
Where does the name come from? If you’ve ever visited Peterborough, you’ll see “Our Town” pop up in several different locations. American playwright Thornton Wilder wrote his theatrical masterpiece Our Town while in residence at the MacDowell Colony, and based the fictional small town of Grover’s Corner on Peterborough. Our Town is Our Town!
Bandit Hat - Dry Stout - 4.2% abv
—
On tap since the day we opened, Bandit Hat holds a very special place in our hearts. The favorite beer of several of our team members, Bandit Hat proves that stouts are not just winter beers. With mild coffee & chocolate notes, an oh-so-roasty smooth body, minimal sweetness, and a crushable low alcohol content, this stout can be enjoyed all year round.
What exactly is a “Dry” Stout?
Dry Stouts are a standard, non-sweetened, low alcohol stout whose flavor is that of dryer roasted grains. Compared to other types of stout (milk, sweet, oatmeal, imperial), which contain lactose or use sweeter grains for a sweet flavor.
Bandit Hat gets its name from one of our favorite movies, Fantastic Mr. Fox! Any time someone else orders a Bandit Hat, the inevitable next question for us is the same that Ash asks: “Where’s my bandit hat?!”
Our Lukr Faucets
We at Post & Beam have a passion for brewing a variety of traditional beer styles. We especially enjoy brewing a lot of European styles, such as pilsners and lagers. In the process of creating the recipe, ordering ingredients, and actually making the beer, we aim to keep it as accurate as possible to where the style originates (i.e. using Weyermann specialty malts in our German Pilsner, Sunshine & Sorrow).
We also believe that a beer made true to style means little if not served properly, which is why we feature two Lukr CZ side-pour faucets on our tap system. These taps allow us to serve our beers the way they were meant to be served!
The proper pour off one of these taps involves the plunging of the faucet into the bottom of a 0.5L dimple mug, building up a thick layer of smooth, creamy foam, then opening it up and inserting the crisp, fully carbonated beer beneath. The mugs we use are designed for this style of pour and allow for there to be the proper volume of beer, plus the extra foam!
Our Lukr faucets are positioned on tap 1 and tap 10, allowing us to have balance across the lineup, featuring a light lager and a dark lager acting as bookends for our tap list.
*Throughout the year, we rotate our light and dark lagers featured on our Lukr faucets. Check out our current tap list to see what’s available now!*
